The vibrant, popular and growing Department of Exercise and Sport Studies offers four academic minors to complement any academic major on campus.  Over 12,000 students participate in ESS courses, with many choosing to pursue a minor in Athletic Coaching, Fitness Instruction, Exercise and Health Science, or Sport Management.

Faculty provide a student-centered learning environment with hands-on research and internship opportunities.  The indoor and outdoor instructional facilities are augmented by state-of-the-art multi-purpose buildings, pools, and play fields which greatly enhance instruction. Students involved in the minor program are likely to pursue advanced degrees in the areas of exercise physiology, kinesiology, athletic training, sports management, physical therapy, physician’s assistant, or business administration. The minor also prepares students for internships or careers in professional collegiate or scholastic environments as well as sports medicine or management.
