UC DIGSSS Coordinator
Mary York serves as the Graduate Diversity Coordinator for the Division of Social Sciences and works specifically with the UC DIGSSS Program. Mary, who began her work in September 2007, has a Master's degree in Education from Indiana University-Bloomington and over 10 years experience in various student affairs positions on college campuses throughout the country. A UC Santa Barbara alumna, Mary has a long history and commitment to the profession of Student Affairs, Student Leadership and Student Development. Mary's greatest joy comes from supporting students who ordinarily would not be pursuing higher educational opportunities.
Mary plans on beginning her own doctoral work in Education beginning in the 2009-2010 academic year. Her ultimate professional goal to serve as a Dean of Students. "We are honored to have such a seasoned person such as Mary York in this position," says Dean Melvin L. Oliver.
