Professional Development Grant
The UC DIGSSS Professional Development Grant is designed to provide students with access to funding that covers most expenses related to securing membership and presenting research at academic conferences and professional organizations. Awards are disbursed on a competitive basis and are not guaranteed. Grants up to $500 dollars may be approved and students may receive funds from this source once per academic year.
All Professional Development Grant application materials require a letter of recommendation from a faculty mentor, supporting documentation such as acceptance of paper proposals, conference agenda(s), flight and/or hotel confirmations and any additional anticipated costs. Requests for funding must include all supporting documentation and be submitted at least 30 days prior to the anticipated dates of attendance.
The Division of Social Sciences encourages and supports graduate students' membership and engagement with the following associations and organizations.
For more information about funding, eligibility, and how to apply, contact Mary F. York, UC DIGSSS Graduate Diversity Coordinator at myork@ltsc.ucsb.edu or (805) 893-4069.
