Eduardo Pacheco, a freshman Political Science major, was a recipient of the Marguerite Casey Foundation's 2015 Sargeant Shriver Youth Warriors Against Poverty award. Pacheco, who grew up in East Los Angeles and was expelled in the seventh grade for bringing a weapon to school, rose to become a student leader and to eventually earn acceptance to UCSB. The award recognizes 12 high school students across the United States for their vision, passion and dedication to improving the lives of families in their communities.
