Congratulations to Jeike Adrian Mathilde Meijer (Global Studies and Feminist Studies) for receiving the Thomas More Storke Award for Excellence!

Jeike Adrian Mathilde Meijer is the recipient of the Thomas More Storke Award for Excellence, the campus’s highest student honor, for outstanding scholarship and extraordinary service to the university, its students and the community. She is completing her bachelor’s degrees in global studies and in feminist studies, with a minor in German.

“One of the things I loved the most about UCSB was the kind and intelligent people I was able to learn with and grow life long connections with. Constantly being surrounded by beauty in nature and in art and music enriched my experience here. I loved learning about the world in Global Studies and being able to pair it with feminist frameworks and theories from Feminist studies. I was able to learn about and see new perspectives and learn history in ways that broadened my understanding of the contemporary. Being able to use this knowledge in my advocacy and activism was especially rewarding.

My future steps is to get a Masters of Science at the University of Amsterdam studying Conflict Resolution and Governance. After this masters I hope to pursue a PhD. While furthering my education, I will also continue my singing and songwriting, and working to produce some of my original music.”
