
Bio:
Charles Burdick started his international career at the age of 28, having been sent to Paris with three days notice, working in an export-import factoring subsidiary of Carnation, the dairy products company. A year in Switzerland followed when Nestle bought Carnation. A career pivot into TMT(Telecom, Media and Technology) and soon a British passport after nearly 20 years in London, first as a CFO and then CEO of Telewest Communications, now part of VirginMedia, followed by a short foray into children’s entertainment as CEO of Hit Entertainment(Bob the Builder et al). When HIT was sold to Apax(and then to Mattel), he started his Non-Executive Board career with extensive work in Eastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean (Russia and Israel among others), as both a Board member and CEO(Israel). Charles is currently a consultant to the EBRD(European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) and is working with one of their investments in Bulgaria.
Charles was an Economics major at UC Santa Barbara and played on UCSB’s volleyball team which was followed by an MBA ‘77 in Finance from the UCLA Anderson School of Business. Charles is a sponsor of the Burdick Global Scholar’s program at UCSB and a member of CEMES (center for management, entertainment and sports) at UCLA. Charles is active in the arts, theatre and photography. He currently splits his time between New York and London.
